Brazilian Navy team wins Great Lakes International Challenge Cup

Winners of the Great Lakes International Challenge Match Race Cup Henrique Haddad - Team Giga Brazilian Navy from Sao Francisco Do Sul Brazil - 2011 Great Lakes International Challenge Match Race Cup Katie Nicoll
Henrique Haddad from Sao Francisco do sul Brazil won all three races in the Finals Match against Shawn Bennet from St. Francis YC in California to capture the 2011 Great Lakes International Challenge Cup and James Hl. Righter Trophy at the Buffalo Yacht Club in Buffalo, NY. The Grade 3 Match Race event was sailed in J/22s in Erie Basin on Lake Erie.
Geoff Becker from Severn Sailing Association won out over Mark Johnson from Neenah Nodaway YC in Wisconon in the Petit Finals.
Organizer Tim Hunt and PRO William Canfield of the St. Thomas YC in the USVI were pleased that the winds were stronger for the semi Finals, Petit Finals, and Finals. With all the light winds it was amazing that they were able to have 46 races over the three days.
