New Zealand's Royal Akarana Yacht Club (RAYC) is proud to announce the 2012 Sail Noumea offshore event in conjunction with the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and Cercle Nautique Caledonien.

The three clubs have agreed to collaborate in the conduct of both passage cruise rallies and ocean races from Auckland and Queensland to Noumea, with a post event cruise rally.

The events will start from Auckland on Saturday 2nd June 2012 and from Brisbane on Sunday 3rd June 2012.

Chairman of RAYC Offshore Race Committee, Mike Wilson says 'Sail Noumea 2012 is a truly international offshore event and will be unique in this part of the world offering a choice of cruising rally or competitive offshore racing to the beautiful South Pacific in company and with support of New Zealand’s premier offshore yacht club.'

Those entered in the competitive division of the event will also be able to participate in the post race cruise rally south to the Isle of Pines. This rally, which will possibly extend out to the Loyalty Group will depart from Noumea on Monday 11th June. This is expected to run for 8 days.

A new, all suites hotel, located on the beachfront has been selected as combined headquarters in Noumea and attractive accommodation packages will be available for sailors, their families and friends. Travel and hire car packages are being arranged, and there will be an active social programme for all families and friends while the rally and race are in progress, and for sailors, family, and friends on arrival in Noumea.

Information updates about Sail Noumea 2012 will be posted on the event Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sail-Noumea-2012/130576313686349 and on the Royal Akarana Yacht Club website which can be found at www.rayc.org.nz

Yacht owners who would like more information about the rally are encouraged to send an e-mail to Royal Akarana Yacht Club Manager Kevin Robertson (kevin@rayc.org.nz) expressing their interest. The club will ensure they are kept informed of all pre-event activities cruising rally details, and post rally events.
