Prince William and Kate - fastest yacht in the Seychelles

by Lee Mylchreest on 18 May 2011
La Digue, Seychelles SW

We could have told them they'd be better on a sailing yacht, but at least Prince William and his new bride Kate, otherwise known as the Duchess of Cambridge, could ensure some privacy when they chartered the fastest motor yacht in the Seychelles for their honeymoon.

By honeymooning on the Sea Stream, a 23metre (76ft) Ferretti yacht with a top speed of 25 knots, they can outrun any paparazzi who might have ideas of trailing them with zoom cameras.

They have been reportedly cruising between former pirate hideouts Praslin, now a favourite for romantic fly-in weddings, and La Digue, pristine waters further to the east. The cruising is mostly through unspoiled natural wildernesses, tropical swamps with spectacular wildlife.

Sea Stream itself has accommodation for eight guests in four cabins, so they won't be cramped. Dining can take place in many areas of the yacht, from the aft deck to the dining room, and cocktails can be taken on the flybridge, on the aft deck or on the foredeck, where sunbaking can be combined with cool drinks all day.

Communications equipment includes VHF, SSB, Internet/Email access via laptop & a GSM. Audio Visual Equipment onboard includes a large flat screen TV/DVD and stereo system in the salon with surround sound and speakers on the aft deck and fly bridge. Each cabin is also equipped with a TV/DVD entertainment system.

The master cabin is the jewel onboard and offers complete view immersion in the sea. The grand panoramic windows offer stunning visual impact that ensures ideal exploitation of light and space. The VIP cabin is forward and also stretches full beam width with a double bed.

But it doesn't need to be an inactive holiday. As the yacht is equipped with jet skis and scuba-diving gear, the area promises everything an ideal honeymoon should. Tenders and toys onboard include a high speed semi rigid inflatable with 40 hp engine, a wake board, a toweable donut, 2 double man sea kayaks, snorkeling gear and a dive compressor and cylinders.

The vessel has also been extensively retro fitted with the latest state of the art game fishing equipment such as forward facing sonar, fish finder, fighting chair and bait rigging station as well as outriggers. There is also a comprehensive range of rods, reels and lures on board that would enable fishing at any level.

Sounds like the honeymoon can be anything they make it - as long as they stay out of sight of the world's media!
