Lightnings at Oxford Open

by Lightning 368 on 6 May 2011
Oxford Open Adrian Hollier
Oxford Open - The Oxford Open proved to be a somewhat trying day. The wind was virtually zero when we got there, however, we decided to go out on the water and crawled to the first mark.

Then it picked up nicely and made for some good racing all the way round the first race. It was interesting racing with the K1's which seemed to perform very similar to a Lightning, so we all got mixed up.

There were twenty boats trying to round the first mark as the wind filled in.

The afternoon, well that was different a different story. It started okay after lunch, but then to wind died to nothing, all but three Lightning's were timed-out not making the best racing. The third race was cancelled and that ended the day.

Let's hope we get good conditions for Cotswold on the May 7, 2011.
