Farewell party for the Fremantle to Bali Yacht Rally

by Sail-World Cruising on 19 Apr 2011
Rally yachts are getting ready for departure SW
After an absence of many years, the advance contingent rally of the Fremantle to Bali Yacht Race will depart the Fremantle Sailing Club Western Australia on Saturday, April 23, 2011 between 11:00 and 11:30 am aiming to cross the starting line at 12:00 noon, and there's a public farewell party!

To celebrate the event’s return and to farewell the sailors in style, the Fremantle Sailing Club would like to invite the public along to send off the adventurous crews and enjoy the Meet Indonesia Bazaar on Saturday 23 April.

The Bazaar will commence at 9am with Balinese-themed family entertainment and music and delicious Balinese inspired cuisine available throughout the day. Participating Rally yachts will be departing the club mid morning, so early birds will be able to visit the yachts in their last moments of preparation.

Three days later, on April 26th, the yachts vying for honors in the rigorous Fremantle to Bali Yacht race will cross the starting line off North Mile at midday and expected to arrive in Bali approximately one week later, depending on weather and sea conditions.

As usual there are currently around double the number of entries in the cruising rally as in the race, showing the ongoing popularity of long range cruising without a competitive edge.

A celebration and awards ceremony hosted by Garuda Indonesia is set for the Aerowisata Sanur Beach Hotel on May 10, 2011.
