Extreme Sailing Series Act 2, Qingdao, China.

Morgan Trubovich from Team Artemis explains the final day:

Our second event of the Extreme Sailing Series has drawn to a close. We finished in sixth place overall. We could have done better than that. But we also could have done worse in this fleet!

Aside from our results, we achieved a number of our goals. We learned a lot more about catamaran racing. We developed some new sailing partnerships amongst the crew. And we got our boat around the course without flipping over!

It was great to sail with Santiago Lange and Rodney Ardern this week. Santi won an Olympic bronze medal here in Qingdao in 2008 and Rodney won the Extreme Sailing Series in 2008. They are both great guys to sail with and we all had a fun time racing here.

Today was one of our better days. It started almost perfectly with a 1,2 and then continued with a 6,11,7,3,3. The last race counted for double points to add a little excitement and ensure that a lot of the results weren’t decided before the last race. So a third was a nice way to end the event for us.

In the end it was the Italian team 'Luna Rossa' that won. Emirates Team New Zealand and Groupe Edmond de Rothschild were second and third respectively.

The next event of the ESS is in Istanbul, Turkey from May 25-29.

We are pulling the boat out of the water right now and then we have to pack everything up to get it all into one 40 foot container. I have to go. Thanks for supporting our Artemis Racing Website
