The Ministry of Culture & Tourism of Indonesia is proud to announce the inaugural Sabang International Regatta 2011, which will be held from 15 to 25 September 2011. Jointly organized with the Technical Assistance from the Indonesia Sailing Federation, this regatta will be a rally from the island of Langkawi in north west of Malaysia to Sabang, at Weh Island in Aceh Province.

The Organizers are inviting participants to register for the Sabang International Regatta 2011 (SIR 2011). Race will commence from 17 to 20 September 2011. The event will see three categories of racing namely the IRC class, Multihulls and Cruisers. The Organisers have also a category for power yachts for this inaugural regatta.

The regatta is organised to promote Sabang and Aceh Province, which has been re-built after the 2004 Tsunami. Sabang, which is the capital town of Weh Island located on the North of Sumatran Island, boasts of scenic nature beauty, beaches, forests, coral reef and history.

The Organisers have lined up a host of activities for participants at both, Sabang and Aceh, besides hosting of dinner parties at selected venue. The SIR 2011 organising team is promising fun-filled prize giving parties.

An entry fee of USD100.00 per yacht inclusive of skipper will be charged and USD25.00 fee will be charged for each additional crew member. For those wishing to join for the social events at Sabang, a fee of USD50.00 will be charged per person.

The organisers are actively looking at attracting sailing and power yachts for this inaugural regatta, as this will be the first regatta organised by the Indonesia Government in the western part of Indonesia.

Entries are expected from from Australia, Hong Kong, Holland, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

Trophies and cash prizes will be given to the winners of Sabang International Regatta 2011 during the Closing Ceremony and Dinner Party at Sabang.
