Miami 2011 a memorable one for BRP

BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) will doubtless look back fondly on the 2011 Miami International Boat Show, where the company was honoured with four awards for its products.

The manufacturer’s all-new Sea-Doo GTI SE 130 personal watercraft claimed the prestigious National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Award in the hotly contested PWC -Jet Boats- Pontoon Boats category.

Not only that, it was the third successive year BRP has won that eagerly sought after award.

A US-based publication specialising in personal water craft editorial also named the Sea-Doo GTI SE 130 as the ‘PWC of the Year’ while another magazine handed it the Excellence in Design award.

The popular Sea-Doo 230 SP jet boat was also granted an Excellence in Design award by the same magazine, capping a highly successful boat show for the company.

BRP engineers completely re-designed the GTI SE 130 with an intense focus on improving rider ergonomics and comfort while integrating the company’s exclusive
iBR system; iBR (intelligent brake and reverse) provides riders with a level of control never before experienced
on the water.

It offers simplified manoeuvrability and the peace of mind for riders knowing come to a full stop when needed.

The model is also equipped with iTC (intelligent Throttle Control) that allows the rider to electronically control delivery of the power.

Mr Robert Buller, one of the NMMA award judges, described the GTI SE 130 as ' a comprehensive package of features for the value-minded rider.'

'With its new ergonomically-designed deck, the efficient power supply mode and its throttle control and braking system, this is one very smart package,' he added.

Editorial staff at the PWC magazine chose the GTI SE 130 as their Personal Water Craft of the Year based on detailed criteria and on-water trials aboard all new models from all PWC manufacturers.

Another publication was equally in praise of the Sea-Doo, describing it as ' a premium watercraft' worthy of the title Personal Water Craft of the Year.

This publication also handed the Excellence in Design award to the Sea-Doo 230 SP boat, rating it as ' a strong, family fun package.'

The magazine said BRP had designed a boat for water sports that 'seats 12 comfortably and is as much fun to drive as it is to wakeboard behind.'

M. Yves Leduc, vice president and general manager of BRP’s North American division, said the awards were a tribute to the company’s commitment to moving the marine industry forward.

'We have provided another level of safety, best exemplified by the introduction of the
only on-water intelligent brake and reverse (iBR) system to a wider range of Sea-Doo models, from entry level to luxury performance,' he added.
