RS Feva Joint Squads training at Hayling Island Sailing Club wekkend was sartorially disastrous.

It was a marvellous atmosphere at the club as well with everyone effectively having their first summer outings. Ice creams and tea shirts all round then.

Joint squads weekend was all change. Winter was done and dusted (for this weekend at least) and parents were sent on emergency missions back home to find the wetsuits to replace the drysuits.

Sailing good – sartorial disaster! No major adrenaline surges resulting from excessive speed but significant quantities produced with 70 other boats on the line.

Just check the photo’s out – bare feet! Hmm, the chances of this being sensible attire from hereon in have still got to be debateable! Still brilliant for the weekend though.

Sailing wise the coaches got through a huge amount of work. The committee got through a large amount of general recalls and 70 boats were reminded of the difficulty of starting with the tide under them out in Hayling Bay.

Interestingly the great and good remained great and good but there were a fair few pretenders to the throne putting themselves forward to cause upsets this season. There was a noticeable lack of domination and a very encouraging mix of success from the zone and class squads.

This season is going to be exciting and it all starts on 9-10 April at the Datchet GP.
