St Maarten Heineken Regatta incredible experience for BVI Team Intac

TEAM INTAC in action - St Maarten Heineken Regatta 2011 Tom Zinn
2011 St Maarten Heineken Regatta - A British Virgin Islands boat, Team Intac sponsored by BVI Private Wealth Management Firm Intac GlobalInvestments returned victorious from St Maarten on Tuesday after an impressive clean sweep in the 2011 St Maarten Heineken Regatta, the 2011 Comodores Cup and the Budget Marine International Match Race.

Posting only first places an incredible 16 consecutive times, 'It looked like a picket fence,' said Anthony Koutan, during the six days of racing.

Chief Investment officer at Intac and Team Captain Mark Plaxton said, 'What an incredible experience for the whole team, this year really showed that hard work and dedication paid off. It’s great for a boat from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) to go up against the toughest sailors from around the world and come out top. It’s a proud moment for our island and BVI racing.'

Plaxton, who was a key crewman in Gavin Brady’s victory in the Budget Marine Match Racing Cup earlier in the week, had U.S.V.I. legend Peter Holmberg onboard Team Intac for the Heineken Regatta. Ironically, Brady and Plaxton beat Holmberg’s team in the finals of the match-racing event.

'That’s what I like about Peter,' said Plaxton. 'He knew we were racing the Commodore’s Cup and the Heineken Regatta together and he was like, ‘You’re going to be with Brady in the match race?’ But that’s just part of the fun.'

Intac GlobalInvestments President Tim Vermuelen said, ' We are very happy with the results the team has brought home and really appreciate the work they have done to promote the British Virgin Islands and our company in the international sporting world. We will continue to sponsor yacht racing as it only brings us positive publicity and excellent response for our advertising dollar'

In the Heineken Regatta Team Intac won Best Boat in Class, Best Performance Day 1 and Best performing boat overall out of the 190 boats competing. The competitors were from Europe, USA, Australia, Canada, Latin America and the Heinken Regatta website
