Interest in Australian products remains high in Middle East

by AIMEX on 7 Mar 2011 Despite visitor numbers seeing less than previous years the Australian companies exhibiting at the Dubai International Boat Show last week were pleased with their results.

Bruce Hermes Pyrotek Noise Control said: 'We received over 100 leads to follow up and have taken a significant order at the show. If we had brought more of our product range we would have sold even more.'

Brett Vorhauer MD of Marine Tech Industries Australia stated: 'I am impressed by the number of international visitors I have spoken to at the show. The interest in our new Voyager Series II is high and we will definitely get business as a result of the show.'

Carl Amor MD Aqualuma, as always, had keen interest in his underwater lights, but attracting even more attention is their new range of interior lights. Carl felt the mood of the industry was improving and many boat builders had now sold all stock and were starting to build again.

Barry Jenkins of Sanctuary Cove International Show said: 'The interest in coming down to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is high. People here like the Gold Coast and the relaxed atmosphere of the show. We expect a number of visitors from this region and given the Australia Superyacht and Marine Export Conference is being held immediately prior to the show this has increased the number of visitors wanting to attend. It gives more reason to make the trip.'

AIMEX Director Richard Chapman MD of Coursemaster Autopilots and Hydrive Engineering stated: 'Although the show appeared slower than previous years the networking and the maintenance of relationships in the region is important.'

This was corroborated by Stephen Vincent - Austral Propellers, Alan Steber - Steber International, Jeremy Spear - Spear Green Design and Vice President of AIMEX Sean Griffin - GME.

The Australian Marine Export Group (AIMEX) attended a function hosted by Enterprise Florida which provided excellent networking with a large number of US companies. With this market starting to pick up this was perfect timing to develop these relationships. AIMEX had also organized a day trip to Abu Dhabi supported by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development taking in Yas Marina, Ghantoot Marina, Abu Dhabi Mar Yacht building facility and a visit to Al Masaood.

Other Australian companies participating at the show were: Marine Technologies, PolyFlex Group, Superior Jetties, Bellingham Marine and Riviera.
