Visitors have a chance to win a Viking Kayak package every day! Mike Rose
A new Extreme 530 Sports fisher that is so new it will be first launched just days before the show is to form the heart of the gate prize for the 2011 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland, 12-15 May.
The prize, which is open to all those who purchase a ticket to the four-day event, will consist of a new fully featured Extreme 530, powered by Yamaha’s new F70 70hp 4-stroke outboard.
The Extreme/Yamaha Gate Prize Package will also come complete with a brand new Raymarine A57D GPS chartplotter and digital fishfinder; a Ray 49 VHF radio; a powerful 60psi, 15 litres-per-minute Jabsco high pressure wash down pump; an integral bait board, rocket launcher and bimini and a specially designed multi-roller, self-centring Extreme trailer.
Aimed at a boat ownera looking for an affordable, quality aluminium family fishing boat, the new 530 will be manufactured from the same high quality aluminium plate and to the same high standard as the rest of the Extreme range.
Extreme Boats have dominated the Aluminium Under 6 Metres and 6-7 Metres Fishing Boat categories at the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show’s prestigious Boat of the Show Awards for the last four years. In that time, they have, every year, either won or been tied for first in both categories.
With an almost-GRP quality finish, Extreme Boats also have a reputation for incredibly soft, stable riding and great performance in a following sea.
'On an Extreme boat you can literally walk away from the helm at 25 knots and even move all the load to one side,' says Extreme’s Glenn Shaw. 'The boat will not deviate from its line, nor will it veer dangerously to either port or starboard.
'I don’t think any other alloy boat on the market could make that claim.'
Standard features that will also appear on the Extreme/Yamaha Gate Prize Package include Extreme’s popular flooding keel to ensure greater stability at rest; counter-levered seat frames that hinge out of the way when not in use to leave a spacious, uncluttered cockpit; a T-style boarding ladder; carefully positioned hand rails; a forward facing fold down rear seat ideal for children and a handy glove box.
The other major component of the Extreme/Yamaha Gate Prize Package is just as exciting. Yamaha’s new F70 was a development of the company’s F60, one of Yamaha’s most popular outboards, and it has found just as much favour with discerning Kiwi boaties.
The lightest 70hp or 75hp outboard, either four stroke or direct injected two stroke, on the market, the F70 boasts four valves per cylinder on a single overhead camshaft. This unique design dramatically increases the efficiency with which the engine can draw fuel and air in and push exhaust out of the cylinders.
This has also allowed Yamaha to increase the F70’s maximum operating RPM to 6300rpm and its efficiency and lightweight make it a perfect match for the Extreme 530.
With Raymarine’s A57D digital GPS chartplotter and fishfinder on board, the winner of this year’s boat show gate prize will also be able to easily find their way to and from their favourite fishing or cruising grounds, and find the fish when they get there. And, with the fully-featured, powerful Ray 47 VHF close at hand, they will also be able to quickly and safely communicate with other boaties and with shore stations such as Coastguard.
The winner will also enjoy peace of mind while out boating thanks to a Hutchwilco safety pack featuring four Hutchwilco lifejackets and a flare pack.
Visitors to this year’s Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show will also have the chance to win an up spec’d Viking Kayak package every day.
These daily packages are designed to appeal to the keen kayak fisher, or the novice who is keen to expand their skills. Each worth a total of $3000, these highly spec’d Viking Kayak packages include everything needed for a successful day’s kayak fishing.
The prize packages will consist of a Viking Profish 400 kayak, a deluxe paddle, deluxe seat, rudder system and insulated fish well cover. They will also have fitted: two Scotty rod holders, complete with stainless steel rod leashes; a fish stringer; a running rig and drift chute and a stainless steel paddle leash. A safety flag, a Hutchwilco personal flotation device and a C-Tug kayak trolley are also part of each daily prize package.
The winners of the Viking Kayak packages will be drawn at the end of each of the four days of the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show while the Extreme/Yamaha gate prize package will be drawn at the end of the show.
All those who purchase a ticket to this year’s Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, either at the gate or in advance through the show’s website (www.boatshow.co.nz) will be eligible to enter the draw for both the Extreme/Yamaha gate prize package and the daily Viking Kayak packages.
Visitors to the show simply need to visit all the clearly-marked stamping booths, collect all the stamps on their admission ticket, answer a couple of simple questions and place their completed entries in the gate prize entry boxes in Hall 5.
