AAkron Inflatables are great but this is ridiculous! + Video

Aakron Boats have just released a new 4.2m alloy RIB which features a floodable keel chamber. 'While the concept is not new we didn't realise how good it would work for a light alloy RIB', says Lloyd Darroch.
'Normally such a boat is too light to have a deep V hull. The buoyancy of the V will lift the RIB too far out of the water so it becomes unstable when stationary. The floodable chamber lets a lot of water into the bottom of the V causing the boat to settle lower and the pontoons to become engaged with the sea. Then you achieve the superb stability that inflatables are famous for. As soon as you power up, the water dumps and you are off!
'And of course you get the soft-riding and handling nature of a deep V.
'We are so impressed we are keen to try other sizes as soon as this one is sold,' he adds.
