RYA Club of the year finalists announced

RYA Club of the Year award will be announced at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011 on Saturday 5th March.

The top five clubs will travel to the show, held at Alexandra Palace, London to collect their finalist awards and enjoy a fun filled day at the show before the overall winner is unveiled at 16.45 on the Volvo Main Stage.

The shortlisted clubs were selected by the awards panel who judged them on how well they promote the sport, encourage people onto the water and make their activities varied and available to their community.

RYA Volunteer Development Officer Jackie Bennetts, who coordinates the awards comments: 'The Club of the Year Awards were set up to highlight and promote all the good work clubs and their members put into keeping our sport alive. All the finalists are excellent; well run, vibrant and forward looking clubs who really excel at what they set out to do.'

This year’s five finalists are:

· Glossop Sailing Club, Torside Reservoir, Glossop, Derbyshire
· Hollowell Sailing Club, Hollowell Reservoir, Hollowell. Northamptonshire
· The Sailing and Cruising Association – National with monthly meetings in London and Ipswich
· South Staffordshire Sailing Club, Gailey Lower Pool, Nr. Penkridge, Stafford
· Spinnaker Club, Blashford Lake, Blashford, Ringwood

The RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011 is held in association with Yachts and Yachting and Suzuki.
