New Mustang sports cruisers revealed

Under the guidance of industry legend, Bill Barry-Cotter, the famed Mustang sports cruiser brand is back and in production on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The first model to be released is a two-cabin 32 Sports Cruiser. Lamination of the hull began on February 1.

Mr Barry-Cotter said two boats would be on display at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May. One boat will be powered by a single 375 horsepower petrol engine and stern drive, the other by a 350 hp turbo diesel and stern drive.

Plug work on the new Mustang 40 has already begun and that is on schedule for release at the Sydney International Boat Show at the end of July.

Final layout drawings for the 32 have been released, showing a two cabin/one bathroom configuration.

The three-side enclosed cockpit and entertaining area features a large L-shape lounge that runs along the port side and curves around the transom. A dinette table can be lowered on an electric activator to turn this lounge into a great day bed. The cockpit includes a forward helm on the starboard side with helm and companion seats. A well-equipped galley is opposite on the port side.

Forward, a companionway leads to the accommodation of a master cabin forward with an island double bed and hanging lockers. A second two-bunk cabin is on the starboard side and the bathroom is on the port side.

Marketing Director Luke Durman said the new design builds on the tradition of Mustang.

'We have taken the brand back to its roots,' he said. 'Mustang again stands for great family sports cruisers at a competitive price.'

The new Mustang 32 Sports Cruiser will be competitively priced at a little more than $200,000.
