Maverick 11 to compete in Cross the Pacific race

by CrossPac Race Committee on 11 Dec 2002
Maverick II Aircalin Auckland to Noumea race
The CrossPac is pleased and delighted to announce that another team has registered to compete. Brian Petersen and John Bankart will be bringing
Maverick II to the line this summer to Cross the Pacific.

It would be hard to magine a more qualified team than Brian and John.

John has sailed over 100,000 sea miles, competed in 4 Sydney to Hobart Yacht races, the infamous Fastnet, and was skipper of the yacht 'Maiden'
racing around the world. John also holds the current record of the non-stop around Australia race in the Open 60 'Magna Data'. John skippered
'Nuclear Electric' and trained the crews for the BT Global Challenge, the toughest around the world yacht race for amateurs.

Brian's credentials are no less compelling, with two Melbourne-Osaka races under his belt, a TransPac in 1995, a Sydney-Hobart in 1993, and
near and dear to our heart, even a Coastal Cup here in California!

Years of crossing the Tasman sea and sailing in races from Guam to Suva to Japan have given Brian tons of offshore experience . Brian and John bring
'Maverick II' to the race, a speedy water-ballasted Elliott 45 that will give 50 footers something to think about!

'Maverick II' along with Ivan and Sybille McFayden aboard 'Funnel Web' will be competing in the Melbourne-Osaka doublehanded race
(http://www.osakacup.com) before the CrossPac.

We're expecting quite a duel between these two superb boats and crews!

Potential competitors, don't forget. The sign up-deadline is approaching fast!
