Barcelona World Race - Technical stop for Lechera Asturiana

by Barcelona World Race on 26 Jan 2011 Barcelona World Race competitors Juan Merediz and Fran Palacio on Central Lechera Asturiana will make a technical stop in Cape Town to repair a leak which means they have been losing pressure in one of the rams which control the canting keel of their IMOCA Open 60.

Juan Merediz and Fran Palacio have made the painful but prudent decision to head for Cape Town in South Africa to ensure they are in the best possible shape to take on the South Indian Ocean.

'Although we will lose out in our race against Hugo Boss we have to put safety first and to make sure what we prevent what might otherwise be a difficult situation in the South Indian Ocean. Our main objective, come what may, is to finish in Barcelona. The stop will be no more than a few hours.' Said Juan Merediz, co-skipper of Central Lechera Asturiana
