Noelex 25s, Hartley 16s, and Sailability converge on Napier

Napier Sailing Club will host the Noelex 25 nationals, Hartley 16s NZ class champs and the Kiwi Cup Incl NZ Access Class Champs 26-29 January 2011.

The N.Z. Noelex 25 Association will hold the 30th Anniversary National Championships of the Class and we invite any current or past Noelex 25 owners or sailors to attend the event which will include Registration, Safety Checks and the A.G.M.(with measuring and weighing if required) 3 days of racing and a prize giving and birthday function on Saturday evening. The regatta will include a championship and handicap series and a cruising division depending on entries. Competitors will be able to stay aboard their vessels on the water adjacent to the Clubhouse. We may have a couple of boats available for charter if needed. Come and celebrate a milestone of one of New Zealand’s true one design class yachts. Checkout the website or contact Paul Redman (paulredman@xtra.co.nz)

The Hartley 16s will also contest their New Zealand Class championship at Napier in conjunction with the Noelex 25s. In its 50th year the Hartley 16 seems to be joining the trend of older classes making resurgence with over 20 boats expected to join the regatta.

With the class strong in Manukau in the north, Napier in the east, it's now New Plymouth to the west which is having its boom time with several new (old) boats joining the fleet with sailors in their 20s (I thought these young guys needed fast sexy boats, maybe you just can’t beat close racing with good numbers)

2011 Kiwi Cup incorporating NZ Access Class Nationals will also sail at Napier. Sailability Hawkes Bay sailors will be keen to race their two new boats they have acquired recently.
