Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for 6 January 2011
There's plenty of New Zealand news in this edition of Sail-World - we have the latest reports from the Paper Tiger Nationals being staged at Evans Bay, Wellington. The regatta has attracted almost 50 competitors which is extremely good for this evergreen class, designed by Ron Given back in 1968.
In Napier, the Tanner Cup and Starling Match Racing have concluded and the Tauranga Cup (effectively the national championship ) is underway along with the National Championships for the Starling class. Both events have attracted strong fleets - we have reports and results in this edition of Sail-World and are carrying reports daily on www.sail-world.com
In Langkawi, Malaysia the NZ Optimist Team supported by the NZ Yachting Trust is competing in the 2010 World Optimist Championships. We have daily reports from the New Zealand team in this edition.
And in Northern Queensland, America's Cup skipper, Dean Barker would seem to have successfully made the transition to catamarans with a strong showing in the Australian A-class Nationals, competing against a fleet of 70 boats. We report in this edition.
Have a great holiday, if that's what you are doing!
We are out of Auckland, working off a mobile connection, at present and will be in Melbourne next week.
Thanks to our contributors for their help and input, we're here to help sailing, and help those who wish to help themselves. A special thanks to those who have contributed to this edition.
Good sailing!
