Rex Airline CEO Michael Jones wins JPMorgan Sydney 38 race 2 today

Founding Sydney 38 One Design class President Michael Jones was proud that his first Sydney 38 Obsession was the first on the water in Sydney. In July he took delivery of his new Cinquante, celebrating a golden Jubilee with Hull 50.

Busy over the last six months, working very long days, buying two airlines, he’s been missing his sailing. Jones commented this morning ‘ I’ve been away from the class for six months and there are so many new boats, it certainly is an exciting class. ‘

Today was the first regatta for Cinquante and Jones on-water experience in the Sydney 38 class showed. He was fast away and with clean air extended at every mark for a convincing 2 minute win.

Barry Moore, the Combined Club champion was second, 8 seconds ahead of Cameron Miles and Steve Robson’s Rush with Andrew Short Marine another 12 seconds back.

With a third in the first race and this afternoon’s win, Cinquante now leads the regatta from Blue Sky.
