NS14 kick of the New Year with Race 7 of Nationals

The NS14 fleet heralded the start of a new year with Race 7 of the Over the Moon Promotions 42nd National Championship at the Canberra Yacht Club.

With a 4pm start to allow for recovery from the New Years Eve celebrations, the fleet set off in a 8 to 10 knots of west south west breeze. Following the pattern of recent days the breeze eased shortly after the start and most of the race was sailed in 5 to 8 knots of breeze.

Rohan Nosworthy and Sophie Holt in ' Aqua Rodent' and Hugh Tait and Taylor Hodgkinson in 'Carbon Neutral' and Kylie Vaiciurgrs and Rebecca Wiley in 'Knot Again' battled the entire two hour race . Rohan and Sophie led almost the entire race only to be pipped at the post by 'Carbon Neutral' with 'Knot Again' taking third place in the 35c day.

NS14 racing will conclude today at the Canberra Yacht Club, with the Flying Fifteen Nationals kicking off tomorrow. For more information go to www.canberrayachtclub.com.au
