Two more races of the nine heat series of the Over-the-Moon Promotions 42nd NS14 Nationals were sailed on Lake Burley Griffin Canberra on Thursday 30th December.

Heat 5 was the longer course format over ona-and-a-half hours starting in a steady 10-12 knot nor'wester. Peter Vaiciurgis and Tina Babbage in '2013' led at the first mark. The race did not all go their way. By the end of the second beat Adam Cause and Jeremy Dodds in 'Talk to Hand' had taken second and Rohna Nosworthy and Sophie Holt on 'Aqua Rodent' pushed them back to third. Hugh Tait and Taylor Hodgkinson in 'Carbon Neutral' were a close fourth. In an easing breeze, thes four boats continued to battle throughout the race with '2031' eventually taki the victory from 'Aqua Rodent', 'Carbon Neutral' and 'Talk to Hand'.

Heat 6 started in a 10 knot westerly. Sailing the shorter race format, '2031' led at the end of the first triangle with 'Talk to Hand' second and Kylie Vaiciurgis and Rebecca Wiley in 'Knot Again' in third. As the breeze softened, competing husband and wife skippers in '2031' and 'Knot Again' settled down to race hard with Kylie prevailing over Peter, and again 'Aqua Rodent' rounding out the top three.

Again Peter Vaiciurgis and Tina Babbage in '2013' were boat of the day. After a lay day yesterday, racing will continue today, with the regatta finishing up tomorrow.
