All Marine Spares invests in exhibition space and global brands

All Marine Spares enjoyed a buoyant 2010 and is anticipating building on that success in 2011 with an increased presence at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

2010 was a 'good year' for All Marine Spares, according to its director, Leigh Francis. 'We can’t complain,' he continues, adding that the key to maintaining business equilibrium during the GFC was to keep stock levels up, focus on customer service and advertise to keep the All Marine Spares’ profile top of mind among the trade.

Along with taking on several new brands including Craftsman engines, Wiseco pistons, Powertech propellers and Dr Shrink, the highlight of the year was an appearance at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show – the first time as an exhibitor.

Leigh says it was well worth the significant investment in space and personnel. 'It was very useful. We met a lot of people and gained good leads and a fair bit of publicity. Some of the other engine brands came and had a look at our Craftsman engines and begrudgingly pronounced them impressive.'

In 2011, All Marine Spares will double its commitment to exhibition space, taking a 6 x 2.5m further south in the same promenade. Leigh says they will be adding another, bigger motor in the Craftsman series, probably an 85hp, as well as more of their own products in addition to motors.

During this year’s show, the company’s Indian contact, Serjeev was on hand to field questions about the Craftsman brand, which is made in India. 'There are hundreds of products manufactured in India these days,' explains Leigh, 'including Jag motor cars. The quality is second to none and the workmanship is excellent.'

In 2011, Leigh says he will attend IBEX/MATS in October and 'be trying not to add any new products to the line-up'.
'We will be consolidating and marketing those we brought on in 2010.'

The appeal of offshore
Is there still appeal? Have we made it too onerous? Why would someone take it up now? I had been pondering. Yes. Marquee events have no issue attracting entrants.
