Four of the 16 boats partaking in the Melbourne to Launceston race are already tied up to the quay and swapping stories about the washing machine effect of Bass Strait this year.
The winner was Alan Saunders' Farr 47, Ninety Seven, at 1155hrs this morning.
Second over the line was Andrew Steenhuis' Beneteau First 45, named Seven, who crossed the Low Head finish line at 13:02:00. Third was the Sydney 39CR known as Ocean Skins at 14:27:25 and then Chris Tucker's Halcyon, a Beneteau First 40. No Fearr, Kevin Robinson's Cookson 12, is the latest boat to finish at 15:23:45.
In the next couple of hours we'll have White Noise, Mirrabooka, Under Capricorn, Upbeat and Tresor.
The last of the fleet is due in after midnight, provided the breeze manages to stay in.
