Threatening clouds, were an ominous sign for the Etchells fleet racing on Corio Bay today, in this Pre-Nationals precursor for the upcoming Rex Gorell Prestige Etchells Australian Championship.
However the the fleet were sent off in 14 – 16 knot NW breeze which built as they approached the top mark.
This quickly changed however, as rain squalls with winds exceeding 30 knots hit the fleet, forcing Race Officer Greg Sinclair to abandon racing for the day.
With three races completed on Saturday, Ross Lloyd’s The Nurse secured top spot in the series. Fellow Royal Brighton Yacht Club compatriots rounded the podium with Jake Gunther’s The Boat second, and Steve Gunther’s Dawn Raid finishing third.
