South Passage the majestic 30.7m Gaff Rigged Schooner owned and operated by the Sail Training Association of Queensland will be conducting special educational cruises in January.
The five-day cruises from her homeport of Manly Brisbane offer excellent value for a ‘carefree’ getaway while also offering the opportunity to stand watch as an active sailing crewmember of a traditional sailing ship.
Life aboard South Passage offers all of the fellowship and excitement required to handle nature’s elements when sailing free with the wind.
The sea kind nature of this vessel and the friendly hospitality of her fully qualified master and crew offer a unique opportunity to learn how to sail while having the added bonus of experiencing a relaxed cruise.
She is the only vessel of her type in Australia and has been commissioned strictly to comply with a marine survey as a sail training ship to operate off the Australian Coast on coastal waterways including Moreton Bay.
The January cruises are part of an extensive new programme for South Passage which offers the opportunity for all age groups to ‘learn the ropes’ in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Later in January South Passage will embark on a coastal voyage to Sydney with a port’o’call at Coffs Harbour before taking part in the Australia Day Regatta in Sydney.
There are a limited number of crew berths available on all of her cruises including the Brisbane to Sydney and Sydney to Brisbane voyages.
Further information regarding costs and her sailing timetable is available from the Sail Training Association of Queensland on (07) 3893 3777.
