Annapolis to Newport Notice of Race posted

by Annapolis-Newport Race Committee on 13 Dec 2010
Annapolis to Newport Race SW
Annapolis to Newport Race Notice of Race has been posted on the race website.

Also posted is the Category 2 Offshore Regs Compliance Checklist which includes both the US and Annapolis-Newport Race prescriptions. The Crew Sign-Up List is open for those seeking a berth in the race.

Online entry is open. There is an option to enter now but delay payment of the entry fee. The entry fee must be paid by 26 May 2011 and is not refundable after that date.

The seminar on preparing for the race held on December 7th was very well attended. Reservations were cut off at 100 because of space limitations. Gary Jobson made opening remarks ranging from strategy, to safety, to crew selection. Three presentations followed Gary’s remarks. Chip Thayer explained the new Cruiser Division. Jim Mumper’s presentation dealt with boat prep and David Shaeffer covered crew selection and prep.

The slides from the three presentations are now posted on the race website. Two of the major take-home messages are: start now with the Offshore Regs Compliance Checklist to identify the tasks needed to prepare the boat and start now to recruit your crew focusing on finding folks with prior offshore experience and the skill sets needed for an offshore race.
