After more than 25 years of commitment to the event, Heineken has signed another three year contract to fully support the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta. This regatta, which has become a staple to many sailors’ regatta schedules, has developed a long lasting and very rewarding partnership with the International beer brand Heineken.

This agreement gives the Regatta organizers three more years of planning capability and stability so important to events, especially in these tough economic times.

Regatta Director Heather Tackling noted 'The commitment that ILTT and Heineken have made to the event over the years is something we admire and are proud of. The Sint Maarten Yacht Club is pleased to once again be sponsored by this premium brand, which ties in very well with the event that we have. We pride ourselves on the quality of our event as our sponsor prides themselves on the quality of their product and together we aim to bring to the public one of the best events in the sailing Caribbean.'

With planning well underway for several months, the final detail of signing on the dotted line took place at the home of Heineken in St. Maarten, International Liquors and Tobacco, distributors of the Dutch Beer. ILTT, located in Philipsburg St. Maarten, has a team committed to the event and all that it brings to the island of St. Maarten. John Leone, Commercial Manager of ILTT remarked 'Heineken, our ILTT team, and myself, are very proud of the event we have built with the St. Maarten Yacht Club over the years.

It is truly a unique and unmatched mix of music, sailing, fun and competition. The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is a magnificently orchestrated sailing Regatta that adds a dynamic party component which makes this event enjoyable to both visitors and our local population.

Our goal is to get better and better every single year, and it is with this drive that fuels the necessary hard work and long hours. We invite everyone to come and enjoy the music, racing and ice -cold Heineken with us on St Maarten for the 31st edition!'

The 31st St.Maarten Heineken Regatta will continue their tradition of inviting high quality bands for each of the parties with the final night having a band with considerable global name recognition.

The first week in March will see yachting being the focus in this Dutch/French Caribbean Island where the residents pride themselves in being able to outdo all other competitive sailing parties. The St.Maarten Heineken Regatta is preceded by the one day Gill Commodores Cup (spinnaker classes only ) and two days before that the Budget Marine Match Racing with usd 10,000 prize money .

The first two editions of this one day match racing event found St Thomas’s Peter Holmberg departing with the big prize as he left Gavin Brady and Peter Isler in his dust free wake.
