Seapack - simply immerse in water SW
All sailors who pride themselves on good seamanship will want to have one of these onboard, maybe several in the grab bag, and some in a locker for when your water is contaminated or the pump doesn't work.
Seapack Crew is an emergency supply of a safe, hydrating drink, straight from seawater.
No power is needed, no pumping. Fresh water in as little as eight hours, straight from the sea.
Used by Nasa, the military, humanitarian disaster & aid support, remote expeditions etc.
How do you use it? Simply open the zip, shake the powder into lower compartment, immerse into seawater! Nature takes over and osmotically draws fresh water through the membrane, rejecting salt molecules. It's as simple as that.
The SeaPack Crew uses the SeaPack technology to provide emergency hydration fluids from saltwater sources, but is a self-hydrating one-time-use pouch. The package comes with three pouches that include a tether to secure the product to a life raft or other vessel. The pouches are portable, compact and will produce a drink in as little as 8 hours, sometimes as long as 24, depending on the conditions.
How does it work?
It's powered by forward osmosis and HTI's revolutionary membrane technology.
It utiizes a passive osmotic procees even allowing one handed operation is case of injury
It uses sugar to create the pressure difference needed to start process with water drawn through membrane rejecting up to 97% of the salt
It surpasses reductions for bacteria, viruses and cysts as specified by the EPA for water purifiers(US)
Sailors will also benefit from the important calories/nutriment delivered with a source of energy dissolved in the clean drinking water in a emergency survival situation
