Permateek - New owner-fit synthetic teak decking

by Vince Coda on 16 Nov 2010
Dekkit synthetic teak decking system - METS Salt Water PR
Permateek - The Dekkit synthetic teak decking system will be seen for the first time at METS in its reformulated structure now manufactured from recycled decking material. Previously of limited availability, Dekkit will now be available through all Permateek and dedicated Dekkit dealers throughout the UK and Europe.

From the same manufacturer as the premium quality Permateek decking but without the professional hand finishing and intricate margins of a classic Permateek deck, Dekkit provides a lower cost option, specially designed as a DIY system, with all the elements a boat owner needs to plan and fit the new deck himself.

Dekkit has a robust surface which will stand up to all the knocks and scrapes which can be experienced on board. It also provides outstanding non slip qualities, even when wet. It is extremely stain and UV resistant being easily cleaned with soap and water to retain its original good looks for many years. Easy to lay, the final deck looks and feels like teak but without the discolouration and maintenance needed for the old timber versions.

The Permateek dealer network has fully trained installers who provide the high standards of deck fitting required for the Permateek quality decks and are on hand for advice and guidance for Dekkit customers. They can also professionally fit Dekkit if required.

Now more ecologically friendly than in its previous formulation, the Dekkit system has been carefully restructured for manufacture using a mix of virgin synthetic and recycled materials. The finished deck provides a realistic teak decking look, with factory welded panels for longevity and highly realistic and maintenance free caulking.

Dekkit patterning material is available from the dealer and is used to define the exact deck layout, allowing the owner to achieve that professional fitted appearance with cut outs for deck fittings and deck shape. The Dekkit panels can then be cut to size and shape and applied to the deck with waterproof adhesive, impervious to salt and rain water ensuring a strong and long lasting finish.

While Dekkit does not have the hand finish and intricate margins of Permateek, it provides a highly attractive, tough decking surface, ideal for sportsboats, yachts and RIB's which will enhance the look and value of the boat at a manageable cost.

The new Dekkit system can be seen for the first time on the Permateek stand 03.423 at METS.
