Crosby Sailing Club's Winter Winds Series - Week 3

by Crosby SC on 15 Nov 2010
The third weekend of Crosby Sailing Club's Winter Winds series saw a slight increase in the number of competitors, and a large increase in the wind strength.

Andy Fox decided it was time to get back on the water after spending several weeks in the bar watching the racing. He was seen in the boat park getting ready at 8 a.m., and as per usual was nearly late for the 12.00 start.

Ian Middleton got away at the start of race 1 and held his lead to the finish, the rest of the racing was very close, with several people putting in their entries for the club's swimming trophy.

Tim Mercer tried to increase his placing in race two by feeding everyone cake at lunch as it was his birthday 21....again.

Mark Blanchard escaped from the fleet in race two, after two yellow cards were shown to one of the Laser sailors for on the water frustration, Mark didn't swim at all this race, sailing well to take the win.

It is good to see a good fleet of lasers building, there is a plan to run some race training in the near future to hopefully help the new sailors to challenge at the front of the fleet.

Sunday 7th November was a fabulous sunny morning , with a challenging, shifty light winds for the sailors in week three of Crosby Sailing Clubs Winter Winds series.

Both races saw the two phantoms get away from the rest of the fleet, and after several lead changes Richie Allen took line honours from Mark Blanchard.

The laser fleet saw Brian Johnson in his new boat, and a scrap for the lead between Ian Middleton and Tim Mercer, Tim for once got the shifts right on the upwind leg and took the wins. Brian held third places.

The solos were led home by Simon Molyneux.
