Boating News from the Asia Pacific and beyond
by Bob Wonders on 12 Nov 2010
Gather around, people, it’s time again for another feast of powerboat news from all points of the compass.
Whether it’s happening here in Australia or across the great oceans of the world, we have it covered.
Locally, that man Troy Marland has done it again.
Fresh from being crowned World champion in the inaugural UIM Unlimited Displacement class, Marland has dominated the Wide Bay Australia Bundy Thunder.
Multiple world champion throttleman Steve Curtis was due to fly into Melbourne this morning (Nov 12) ready with his driver, Ali Al Neama to take on the Aussies at the final two rounds (Geelong and Sandringham) of the Offshore Superboat Championships.
That’s not all in the offshore world, either.
In the Middle East, at Abu Dhabi and Dubai, to be precise, the UIM Class 1 action resumes to end the 2010 season while way across the world, in Key West, it’s the 30th staging of Super Boat International’s world titles.
Up in Singapore, the superyachts are gathering for the Asian Superyachts Rendezvous and the small (and very quick) P750 racers are engaged in the European championships in Ireland.
Never accuse Powerboat-World of not being worldwide!
We also pay tribute to a man who has left an indelible mark on ski racing in Australia, the late Barrie Beehag.
In ski racing and water skiing generally, he’s a man who will long be remembered.
Congrats too, to Simrad for being accorded multiple awards in the US for its superb navigational instrumentation.
Like I said it’s all happening, enjoy the read and keep up that habit of dropping by regularly for our constant updates.
