UIM Class One fleet heading to UAE

Class One World Powerboats Championship 2010 Stresa Round 4 - UIM Class One Class 1 World Powerboat Championship http://www.class-1.com
UIM Class One’s eight-boat fleet is on the high seas heading east to the United Arab Emirates where the remaining three trophies of the season will be decided in the Abu Dhabi (24-26 November) and Dubai (9-11 December) Grands Prix.

Having already secured a seventh European title for the Victory Team after taking maximum points in both races in the Italian Grand Prix in Stresa, World Champions Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi now turn their attentions to retaining their World, Middle East and Edox Pole Position crowns.

With six wins from a possible eight this season the Fazza pairing is in complete control of the defence of their World title carrying a 33-points advantage over Skydive Dubai teammates, Abullah Al Mehairbi and Talib Al Sayed, with just two other outfits, Negotiator and Primatist GSG Ceramic Design, in with a mathematical but outside shot at the title.

Standing in Fazza’s way in the Edox Pole Position Championship are the hard charging Norwegians, Kolbjorn Selmer and Jorn Tandberg in Welmax, who, having taken three consecutive pole wins lead their Emirati rivals by ten points.

In the Middle East Championship it is all to play for, for all eight outfits - and a possible ninth entry to be announced in the coming weeks - when the teams line up in Abu Dhabi for two of the four remaining races of the season, and what could prove to be a demanding and rough course around Lulu Island.
