Estate Master winner - Peppers Anchorage Farr 40 regatta 2010 Sam Crichton
Peppers Anchorage Farr 40 2010 - Lisa and Martin Hill’s Estate Master have won the 2010 Peppers Anchorage Farr 40 regatta after a three day event that provided a liquorice all sorts of weather for the six teams racing. The final day of racing was held inshore on Port Stephens in a west- south west breeze that began the day at 18 knots and gradually decreased to eight knots for the last race of the regatta.

Going into the last day of the regatta after a forced lay day on Saturday due to winds constantly over 30 knots at Port Stephens Guido Belgiorno Nettis’ Transfusion led Estate Master on a count back with Chris Way’s Easy Tiger II in third.

The race committee were keen to make up for the day of racing lost on Saturday so set up a course that provided four races on the last day.

Transfusion stamped their mark on the head of the fleet in race four taking the win from Estate Master and setting up the battle for the overall winner. The following two races had some start line jostling which had Anger Management having to return and restart and Estate Master winning both races which put them in a one point lead in front of Transfusion going into the final race for the regatta and typical of this close one design racing made the last race the decider.

The start line of race seven had Estate Master at the boat end of the line with Transfusion right under her and an infringement by Estate Master set up the final race to start off with a penalty turn for them while the rest of the fleet headed to the top mark. Lang Walker’s Kokomo led the fleet to the top mark for the first time around the course and extended through out the race to take the win. Meanwhile Transfusion covered Estate Master who worked their way through the fleet to finish second in front of Easy Tiger II and win the regatta.

'We had to keep our heads on straight after having to take a penalty turn on the last start but the team managed to work our way back and hold onto the top stop. I’d like to thank my team for this weekend and my fellow owners for providing some fantastic racing for the start of a very exciting season for the Australian Farr 40 class. We are all looking forward to the upcoming 2011 Rolex Farr 40 Worlds in Sydney and will be using every class event for time on water in preparation', commented a very happy Martin Hill.

The next regatta on the 2010-2011 Australian Farr 40 circuit is the Pittwater Farr 40 regatta on October 30-31 and being hosted by Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.

The Australian Farr 40 class would like to thank the supporters of the 2010 Peppers Anchorage F40 regatta – Peppers Anchorage Resort Port Stephens, Corlette Point Sailing Assoc. and Sydney City Marine.
