The eighth Waikato Boat, Fishing & Leisure Show has set sail at Mystery Creek Events Centre today. 2,091 people turned up for the first day of the only marine event in the Waikato, to get their boats and equipment ready for summer.
The Waikato Boat, Fishing & Leisure Show is dedicated to bringing the Waikato region the greatest in the marine industry. With the best businesses exhibiting at the event, the show is sure to satisfy boaties and fishing fanatics alike. A boat that should be viewed while at the show is the New Zealand made Skope 600V. The wakeboarding boat was built locally and creates a fantastic wake for boarders of all skill levels. Cambridge Marine also have exceptional boats on display, Stabicraft boats. The stability of the boats is evident at their site with a Stabicraft boat fully submerged in a large pool of water, yet it still afloat.
The well-received Innovation Court is back again for the second year due to its huge success in 2009. Innovation Court displays the latest maritime developments, which are inspiring enthusiasts to transpire the Kiwi innovative attitude into the marine sector. A must see in the Innovation Court is Elite Dive Equipment, displaying the new to New Zealand Amphibian Classic Scuba Flipfins. The fins allow the wearer to walk with ease by flipping the fin upwards so it’s flush with the shin. There are many new advancements of the marine sector which can be found in the Innovation Court and throughout the event.
The best sites of the 2010 Waikato Boat, Fishing & Leisure Show were announced this evening at the exhibitor function. The best overall site went to Fish City due to their wide range of fishing and leisure products displayed in a fresh and clean fashion. Winning sites of the Waikato Boat, Fishing & Leisure Show are:

Sue Tucker, from Environment Waikato was also recognised for her contribution to the Youth Programme which educates school groups about water safety.
While at the Waikato Boat, Fishing & Leisure Show visitors have taken advantage of the amazing prizes on offer. Public can go into the draw to win a luxury cruise for two around the stunning Bay of Islands by entering a ticket on the Island Escape Cruises site, PO43. There are many demonstrations throughout the show, all showcasing different aspects of the industry. From learning tips to landing the big one from fishing expert Adam Clancey to being amazed at the tricks being performed on the lake by the M.I.A Wakeboarding crew, there is plenty to stimulate all nautical interests at the Waikato Boat, Fishing & Leisure Show.

The New Zealand Transport Authority has advised Narrows Bridge on Airport Road, off SH1, is closed until after Labour weekend. From Hamilton we recommend taking the SH3 route to Mystery Creek Road; via Ohaupo Rd, to Mystery Creek Events Centre. From Cambridge we recommend taking the Kaipaki Road route.
