Canadian Opti Champion now sailing 420s at RHYC's Cornish Hen

by Linda MacDonald on 14 Sep 2010 Optis, Lasers, 420s and 29ers are all set to launch for the second day of the Cornish Hen regatta being held at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club. It is the final qualifying regatta for competitors in the Ontario Sailing Provincial Championship Series.

Of note, Meredith Megarry reigning Canadian champion in Optimist racing has transitioned to the 420s for the Cornish Hen. She and her teammate Andrew Hodgson have placed second overall after their first day of racing. Meredith indicated 'The doublehanded dinghy offers some new and positive challenges in sailing.' Hodgson and Megarry were busy rigging their dinghy with the help of LOOT teammates to optimize their chances in today's races. We'll have to keep an eye on their progress.

This year, the RHYC's Cornish Hen is also one of the select regattas for the lasers District 3 Gold Cup series. Success this weekend matters.

Overall results will be provided at the end of Sunday's racing.
