Marina of the Year Awards open for entry

The 2011/12 Marina of the Year Awards are now open for entry. After the success of the Marina of the Year awards in 2009/10 an additional category has been added to specifically recognise excellence in club marinas.
The two other awards categories are marinas under 140 boats and marinas 140 boats and over. The awards are administered by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA).
The awards are open to all marinas across Australia. The assessment criteria includes marketing, service, facilities and standards, environmental responsibility, risk management, training, industry involvement, contribution to the local economy and outcomes against set objectives.
MIAA Executive Officer Colin Bransgrove said while the application process is not onerous, the assessment is thorough and includes an independent expert judging panel, 'mystery shopper' calls and a site visit to all short listed applicants.
'The marketing benefits for finalists and winners for the two year recognition period have been expanded with more print, electronic and branding support.'

International Conference and Exhibition awards dinner 22 June 2011 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Previous winners of the award have been Southport Yacht Club (2000), d’Albora Marinas Akuna Bay (2002), The Marina Hindmarsh Island (2003), Mandurah Ocean Marina (2004), d’Albora Marinas Nelson Bay (2005), Mackay Marina Village & Shipyard (2006), Soldiers Point Marina (2007), Empire Marina Bobbin Head and Fenwicks Marina (2009).
