Power AND Sailboats sold at the Port Credit In-Water Boat Show!

New and Used boats, both power and sail sold at last weekend's Port Credit In-Water Boat Show. Hosted by the Port Credit Harbour Marina and The Store, Mason's Chandlery August 27-29, the show saw great crowds and great boat buying weather. There were over 100 boats exhibited in-the-water and on the hard and over 40 land displays.

Mississauga Councilor and Acting Mayor Carmen Corbasson opened the show on Saturday. Along with show founder Lori Mason of The Store Mason's Chandlery and her parents, Jack and Bette Mason who built Mason's Chandlery over 30 years ago, Corbasson welcomed attendees and exhibitors to Ontario's Largest In-Water Show for new and used boats. She then presented a cheque for $2,500 to the Ontario Sailing Association's president Donna Scott. The Ontario Sailing Association is responsible for bringing young hopefuls to the Olympic sailing team.

A big hit at this year's show was Tuggy the Safety Tugboat, the marine industry's 'spokes-boat' who charmed both young and seasoned boaters. The Speaker's Tent, a regular show feature, was packed to the rafters, particularly for the seminar 'Living His Dream Under Her Terms' presented by Rob and Mary MacLeod of Informedboater.com.

John Armstrong, Manager, Mainship Sales, who sold a Mainship 35, stated that he always sells one or two boats at the Port Credit Show. Don Hyde Marine reported sales on two powerboats as a direct result of the show, with good quality leads on other boats. Slavek Krolikiewicz of North Lakes Yachting stated that he 'was impressed with the quality of the clientele that came to the show. They were here to buy.' Krolikiewicz received offers on two of his sailboats.

'It was a great show and very success for us,' stated Kevin Flynn of Yachttime. 'We met a lot of new boaters exploring different options on how to enter into boating.' First time exhibitor Brian Chapman of UK-Halsey Sailmakers also had a successful weekend. 'We took 3 orders, with deposits, as well as many quote requests.'

Bob Mitchell of Amphibious Boats said that the show 'exceeded his expectations'. His 6.1M recreational RIB, complete with wheels, received a lot of attention.

'We had a number of new exhibitors and new boats this year. We also added a number of new features and made some changes that were reflected in the great comments we received from both attendees and exhibitors' said show manager Lori Mason. 'We've got some great ideas for next year and looking forward to an even better show in 2011!.'

The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show will be held August 26-28, 2011 at the Port Credit Harbour Marina. www.portcreditboatshow.ca
