LIONROCK 48 hrs lead TropicalStormRisk.com
If you are thinking of sailing in the southern Taiwan Strait over the next 48-72 hours, you may want to think again.
Take a look at these two predicted storm tracks from http://www.tropicalstormrisk.com - they both show the same sea area 48 hrs from now - Thursday 02 September 2010.
Tropical Storm LIONROCK is expected to reach Xiamen on Thursday. LIONROCK is
currently southeast of Hong Kong and moving into the Taiwan Strait. It is possible it
will be a Category 1 typhoon if or when it reaches Xiamen.
Another tropical storm, NAMTHEUN, is expected to reach Xiamen ALSO on Thursday.
It is currently north of Taipei and the projected track is south into the Taiwan Strait. This
southward movement of a tropical storm in this region is extremely rare.
If the two storm track projections continue in the present direction, LIONROCK could absorb
NAMTHEUN and become a more powerful storm.
