Global Sails Adams 10 Challenge.
The Global Sails Adams 10 Challenge was contested on 21-22 September on Port Phillip Bay, by Hobsans Bay Yacht Club.
This event once again proved how class racing in the Adams 10 class has become increasingly popular. Races were completed with all boats
finishing within two minutes, and in the second race a photo finish for
first place.
Although numbers were less than anticipated, 6 Adams 10's answered the
Hobsans Bay Yacht Club starting gun over the weekend, in a light wind
series. The racing was close with 3 separate heat winners from the 4 race
series.
Congratulations to Ashley Stevens owner of RAGE, who won the regatta with a
scoreline of 1,1,3,4 by one point from WHISPERING JACK : DNF,2,1,3. Third
Place went to TOP GUN.
The first two boats were Mk1 Adams 10s nearly 27 yrs old, with the newer
Mk3 boats filling the next 3 positions, proving the older boats, are still
competitive, with some new Sails.
Both 1st and 2nd placed boats carried
new Carbon Headsails from Global Sails, built for this event.
The next Event will be held in 6 months time at a date to be determined.
There is all ready interest from 12 boats for the next event, which should
prove to be bigger and better.
