Two years after launching her online Australian Marinas Guide, sailing entrepreneur Fiona Harper has launched a new product, her 'Berths for Sale'
In the last two years, the Australian Marinas Guide has grown rapidly to become the only definitive guide to Australian Marinas. And not only marinas. Where conventional marinas don't exist you can find safe harbours, dry stack, and mooring facilities.
Boat owners cruising in unfamiliar waters find The Guide particularly useful with the interactive mapping system pinpointing each marina’s exact location. This mapping system has also been utilised in the newly launched Berths & Moorings For Sale or Lease section.
The Berths and Moorings For Sale or Lease section was recognised by Harper as a gap in the market. There was currently not one single resource for finding this information, with berths for sale or lease confusingly spread across real estate and yacht brokers amongst others.
So she developed the project to further support the needs of boat owners. Using interactive maps that are already a feature of The Guide itself, Map Markers pinpoint the location of berths for sale or lease. Designed to allow individual berth or mooring owners as well as commercial entities to place a Map Marker, maps are divided into States for ease of use. Users can zoom right in to see the exact location of the berth as well as the surrounding waters.
'We saw an opportunity to expand on our position as the definitive guide to Australian marinas, by adding this valuable tool to The Guide,' says Harper. 'The Guide has become an essential resource for boaties looking to dock their boats, so this was a natural extension to the important information we already provide,' she notes.
'We receive a lot of feedback from users of The Guide, who keep telling us that they want to know not only where all the marinas are, but which ones have berths for sale or long term lease. Some want to know how to secure a mooring in places like the Brisbane River, for example. Marina operators had also been telling us that they wanted to be able to get the word out to boaties that they had berths for sale,' she explains.
The Australian Marinas Guide is totally independent and is not bound by any particular associations’ constitution, meaning boat owners have access to every boat docking facility in Australia. While the Australian Marinas Guide works closely with marine industry associations, it’s the boat owners who reap the benefits.
By being independent, the Australian Marinas Guide is able to list every single marina, dry stack and mooring in Australia, unlike other marine directories that simply list their own members details.
If Harper puts the same dedication and efficiency into the new project, it is bound to be as successful as the last. ...Always nice to see a hard working entrepreneur making a success of a venture...
