China Cup International Regatta is pleased to announce that the 2010 edition of the event will have a new One Design class – the Far East 26 (FE26).
The Far East 26 is a keelboat made by Shanghai Far East FRP Co., Ltd., one of the largest sailboat builders in China. This year, six FE26s will compete in the CCIR, following on from the FE26’s presence at the China City Clubs Regatta in Qingdao in June, when a fleet of 11 FE26s made up the racing fleet.
The FE26 made its debut at the Dusseldorf Boat Show in January 2010, and marked the manufacturer’s expansion into the keelboat market, based on its years’ of experience and expertise in dinghy building. Designed by Simonis Voogd, the FE26 is a modern design incorporating beautiful short lines and innovative features, and suited both for racing and leisurely cruising. It is an easy boat to handle for both experienced sailors and novices. The fleet of FE26s put in a sparkling performance in Qingdao, in conditions of just 4 to 6 knots of breeze.
CCIR is now accepting further entries for the six-boat FE26 OD class. Far East Boats are expected to send their champion team from the China City Club Regatta, consisting of its dealers in Europe.
