CNN Inside Sailing and Watersports World featuring Hamilton Island Race Week
A giant sailing audience world-wide will be seeing television coverage of Australia's major sailing regatta at the Hahn Premium regatta over the next few months.
Australia's own Sail-World team filmed the 19th annual regatta for both CNN Inside Sailing and the widely broadcast Sky, Star, Fox Watersports World. Their combined sailing coverage is broadcast to 315 million homes in 100 countries worldwide.
Hamilton Island provided un-matched media facilities, with excellent media boats and helicopter teams.
Sail-World's camera teams worked hard throughout the regatta, producing a large amount of on water and on race boat and cruising fleet footage and interviews from sailing personalities from around the world. Whereas race week film coverage has in past years been produced largely by non-sailors, this year Sail-World's team who cover sailing all year round, have been able to capture the Race Week events.
As Sail-World's Rob Kothe explained 'This was the seventh year in a row for us at Hamilton Island, so we understand the regatta from the sailors viewpoint and we are looking forward to introducing this great Australian event to a world wide audience. During the week, we managed to get over 120 boats in front of our cameras and we have lots of interesting footage. We filmed everything from ugly early morning post-hangover scenes to broaches from the stern-quarter.'
Over 90 minutes of Race Week footage will go to air over the next few months. Program times will be detailed as soon as they are finalised.
A 50-minute Hahn Premium Hamilton Island Race Week video will be produced during September, which will be available in both DVD and VHS formats.
