Hyundai SeasAll marine engines - a new generation

by Guy Nowell, MarineBusiness-World on 28 Jun 2010
Joanne Kim (Marketing Manager) and Ted Fagerburg (International Operations Director) Hyundai SeasAll - Korea International Boat Show 2010 Guy Nowell http://www.guynowell.com
We met a number of ‘old friends’ at the Korea International Boat Show at the beginning of this month - and one of them was Hyundai SeasAll. Not all Korean marine business is in ‘start-up’ mode – Hyundai have of course been a big player for a long time.

Were introduced to Hyundai SeasAll marine engines a year ago. The project started as an exercise in ‘marinising’ a diesel truck engine, but has been substantially refined since then. Ted Fagerburg, International Operations Director, told us that the engines now come in 2.2-litre and 3.0-litre versions, and in sterndrive, shaftdrive and waterjet configurations. The SeasAll power plants offer light weight and high fuel efficiency, based on a CGI (compacted graphite iron) cylinder block.

Flag-carrier of the SeasAll family is the S250 3.0 litre V6 CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) which has been designed to be “ultra light, quiet, and fuel efficient, thanks to the CGI block” - and with extremely compact dimensions.

Marketing Manager Joanne Kim told us that the engines are now being introduced through dealers in the Asia/Pacific region, and will soon be available in Europe and then the USA - it’s export business, and both Kim and Fagerburg have full confidence in the quality of the product. “Hyundai is a well-known and respected name, and we are aiming to become one of the world’s leading marine engine manufacturers.”
