The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron has recruited local aspiring Olympic sailor Jared West as a mentor for the Sailing Academy's Junior Sailing Program.
The Junior Sailing Program provides a fun and exciting environment for getting kids into sailing.
Jared will be assisting Sailing Academy Coach Carl Webster as a volunteer coach, guest speaker and fitness trainer.
This role comes naturally to Jared, who shares a passion for helping juniors get active in sport.
Jared has a Masters degree in Human Movement Studies and has worked extensively as a strength and conditioning coach with junior athletes. Jared is also one of the top dinghy sailors in Australia and is a member of the 2010 Australian Sailing Development Squad and inaugural Queensland Academy of Sport sailing program.
'I look forward to sharing my experiences to help inspire our kids towards a lifelong participation in the sport.'
