ISAF International Judges and Race Officers Seminar in India

An ISAF International Judges Seminar (IJ) and International Race Officers (IRO) Seminar will be held in Chennai, India from 1-3 Oct 2010 and 2-4 October 2010 respectively, as part of the India International Regatta 2010 which is scheduled 3-10 October 2010.The ISAF Race Official Seminar programme aims to improve standards of officiating around the world by increasing the number of officials qualifying for ISAF International status.

The seminar will give attendees an opportunity to be trained in the most recent race management techniques and current issues. Topics will range from responsibilities, race documentation, course setting, starts and finishes, racing rules of sailing, procedures and judging issues and post regatta follow-up.

The seminar presenters, Tomasz Chamera (POL), Marinus Blickman (NED), Bryan Willis (GBR) and Neven Baran (CRO) will be referring to advanced race management and judging issues as applicable to national and international events.

This will be an excellent opportunity for already experienced Race Officers and judges to learn about some of the best practices on the course.

'By holding the seminars in conjunction with India International Regatta 2010, we hope many of the officials attending the event along with their teams will be able to upgrade their qualifications' said Lt Gen (Retd) KS Rao, Chairman Events Committee of the Yachting Association of India.

He further, commented 'The seminar is an extension of YAI's vision to increase participation in sailing in India and to deliver substantial training opportunities to volunteers'.

There is no registration fee for attending the seminar and the organisers will assist overseas participants in arranging accommodation and meals at discounted rates. The organisers will also arrange free pickup and drop from/to the airport/accommodation.

Erica Lush Completes Bermuda 1-2 Regatta First Leg
While training for the Solitaire Du Figaro Rhode Island sailor Erica Lush completed the first leg of the Bermuda 1-2 regatta as the only woman skipper in the fleet. Lush sailed solo from Newport to Bermuda, handling a boat new to her, and rough sea state.
