Esimit Europa 2, the world’s fastest 30 metre super Maxi yacht with maximum speed 35 knots was launched and christened this week in Cannes. It was a big event, with Europe's business leaders and the media there in strength.
The yacht is equipped with the latest technology. It is 30 metres long and 5.3 meters wide with 44 metre high mast and 5.2 metre draft, and takes 26 crew. the mast was manufactured by US company Southern Spars, and the hull by Australian company McConaghy Boats.
The Esimit Europa project which launched the boat, is the brainchild of Igor Simcic, the Slovenian owner who for fifteen years has had the dream of connecting European Nations and blurring the borders to more effectively bind them into a unified force. The project is also under the patronage of the President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso.
The project gained a whole new dimension in 2010 with the Esimit Europa 2 yacht, all-star sailing crew and support from European Energy, a powerful online movement to improve the quality of life in Europe.
The record breaking 30M maxi is built purely of carbon fibre. She proudly flies the European flag and is skippered by legendary Italian sailor, Flavio Favini. His 25 member crew boasts a wealth of experience ranging from the Olympics to the America’s Cup.
Esimit Europa 2 will compete in many races in the European environment, as a symbol of a united Europe.
