According to the latest radio sked, the Open 60 O Canada and one of the veterans of the NZ ocean racing scene, the Davidson 55, Starlight Express, are level pegging on 869 miles to sail to the finish at Port Denerau Marina.

Despite strong winds south of North Cape the fleet is reported to be in lighter breezes and there are some interesting results on the water, with the Bakewell-White 52 Wired, trailing the smaller and newer Bakewell-White 36, General Lee.

The latest report is as follows:

Monday 24th 6.40am An interesting night with many boats heading back east towards the rhumb line. The strong winds that Northland has experienced overnight appear not to have affected the fleet, and in fact we note this morning, that the breeze is rather light. The tracking unit this morning shows Pretty Boy Floyd making only 2.3 knots, and appearing to head back to Auckland!

After speaking to Taupo Maritime radio they report that 'Alls well' and they are just on a bad tack. Still nothing heard from Skiddy Too - we assume he is trying to get power into his batteries. General Lee and Starlight Express both had a fantastic night, having stayed more east, and have now over taken the boats surrounding them.
