Auckland - Denarau, Fiji Race- Images of fleet at Rangi & Navy escort

Images of the fleet leaving Auckland in an easy 10 - 12kt southerly flying their kites and genakers, with OCanada getting an escort out from the NZ Navy. The fleet spread out between Rangitoto and Tiri Island before the majority went inside Tiri on their way north towards less favourable conditions.

Other than a small flotilla of supporters OCanada was escorted along the coastline by a navy vessel before they gybed to head offshore. She later had to avoid a couple of lone fishing boats enjoying the sunny day on the harbour. Meanwhile Wired and Ran Tan II were pacing each other within a stones throw as they headed out towards Tiri passage.
