The final two races of the Cascais Audi MedCup first event took place today, yet again in incredible conditions - wind, waves and sunshine to round up this first successful event.
TeamOrigin had an impressive start and led around the first mark in the first race but suffered a spinnaker sheet issue and lost out badly finishing in 10th place. In the second and final race, Artemis incurred a penalty after an incident with TeamOrigin at the start where they managed to break their bow sprit and had to do penalty. TeamOrigin took seventh place in the second race and end up with a credible fifth place (joint on points with Quantum Racing who take fourth) for their first event.
Ben Ainslie, Skipper and Helmsman, summed up the event for the team, 'A tough day on the water but the overall result was a good one for our first regatta with limited preparation time. There is plenty of scope for improvement which is promising for the rest of the season.'

TemaOrigin now need to do a quick turnaround as the crew all fly off to Sardinia tomorrow in preparation for the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena event where training in America’s Cup boats kicks off on Tuesday 18th May and racing is scheduled to start on Saturday 22nd May.
The second Audi MedCup event takes place in Marseilles between 15th and 20th of June 2010 so their boat returns to Valencia for some modifications to take before their next event.
